  38.        This section lists the subsystems (and their sizes) of
  39.        CustomerLink.

  41.        If you are installing this option for the first time, the
  42.        subsystems marked ``default'' are the ones that are
  43.        installed if you use the ``go'' menu item.  To install a
  44.        different set of subsystems, use the ``install,''
  45.        ``remove,'' ``keep,'' and ``step'' commands in _i_n_s_t to
  46.        customize the list of subsystems to be installed, then
  47.        select the ``go'' menu item.

  102.        using IRIX.  You do not need to use the miniroot.  Refer to
  103.        the _I_R_I_S _S_o_f_t_w_a_r_e _I_n_s_t_a_l_l_a_t_i_o_n _G_u_i_d_e for complete
  104.        installation instructions.

  109.        CustomerLink 2.2.2 requires that your workstation be running
  110.        IRIX 5.3, 6.2, 6.3 or 6.4 with the following product

  134.        2.5  _H_o_w__t_o__g_e_t__t_h_r_o_u_g_h__f_i_r_e_w_a_l_l

  136.        You may skip this section if you do not have firewall
  137.        between the system running custlink and the Internet. To
  138.        find out whether you can reach SGI electronically or not,
  139.        try the ping command:

  144.        Otherwise, you will have to do one of the following:

  147.          1.  CustomerLink is socksified. If your site runs sockd as
  148.              its gateway proxy server, you may enable custlink to
  149.              connect to the Internet by setting the SOCKS_SERVER
  150.              environment variable.  For example, if your site has
  151.              sockd running on a company gateway called abc-
  152.              gateway.com, you would do the following:

  157.              Depending on how your local environment is set up, you
  158.              may also need to set the SOCKS_NS environment variable
  159.              to the IP address of the machine that runs name
  160.              service for your site.  For example, if the IP address
  161.              of the name service machine for your site is

  170.              You may wish to put these lines in your .cshrc file so
  171.              that they are automatically set whenever you log in.

  173.              You may also need an /etc/socks.conf file on your
  174.              system; ask your system administrator for this file.
  175.              If you are unable to obtain one, you may create your
  176.              own /etc/socks.conf file containing only the line:

  194.          2.  If your site does not run sockd, you would have to
  195.              configure the firewall to pass outgoing packets with a
  196.              destination of _i_n_s_i_g_h_t._s_g_i._c_o_m _p_o_r_t _6_0_1_3
  197.              (_1_9_2._8_2._2_0_8._5._6_0_1_3). This is the system and port
  198.              number used for connecting to Silicon Graphics'
  199.              Technical Assistance Center. _c_u_s_t_l_i_n_k requires a bi-
  200.              directional connection to send requests and receive
  201.              replies to and from the server-port. There is no need
  202.              to establish a separate connection for each direction.

  205.        2.5.1  _N_a_m_e__S_e_r_v_i_c_e  If your site uses NIS or BIND name
  206.        services, you must add these entries to the hosts database
  207.        on your server:
